Eberhard: Horological Art from Tradition

It was in 1887 that Georges-Emile Eberhard founded his own watch manufacture. When establishing the company, he followed the lead of other luxury watch manufacturers and chose La Chaux-de-Fonds as its location. Eberhard initially focused on the production of elegant pocket chronographs. In 1919, the company was eventually taken over by his two sons. In the same year, Eberhard made a name for itself as a supplier to the Royal Italian Navy. On this occasion, the company presented the first wrist chronograph, which featured an hour counter.

After Eberhard ceased watch production during World War II, it resumed in 1947. From then on, the Swiss company consistently presented new and extraordinary watches. This included a first collection of luxury wristwatches, which was launched in the late 1950s. Several innovations characterized Eberhard's Extra-Fort collection. On the one hand, the manufacture impressed with technical refinements, and on the other hand, the design also held a special significance. Highlights included the second counter and the slide rule.
