By exploring the dark side of the sea, OMEGA has continuously expanded its expertise in dealing with ceramics and today presents the Seamaster Planet Ocean “Deep Black”. This remarkable 45.5mm timepiece is the combination of a GMT model and a diver's watch. Its completely black color refers to the sea at a depth of 300 meters. The shiny and brushed case is made from a single piece of ceramic, the same material used for the unidirectional rotating bezel and Arabic numeral dial.
While a new GMT ring was added to the dial, the diving scale and the OMEGA logo on the crown were decorated with Liquidmetal™. The 18K white gold hands are coated with white Super-LumiNova. OMEGA achieved another innovation with an aligned screwed case back that elegantly holds the engraved lettering in position. Responsible for this is OMEGA's new and patented ceramic Naiad Lock.
Other features include an alveolar pattern on the screw-down caseback and a black rubber strap with contrast stitching and antibacterial treated lining. The Planet Ocean “Deep Black” is waterproof up to 60 bar and is powered by OMEGA’s Master Chronometer caliber 8906. To achieve Master Chronometer status, he had to undergo eight rigorous tests developed by the Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).
